On Tuesday June 21, 2011, Aunt Janae went to the hospital to be induced! She had to be there at 5am... Aunt Carin Weier drove down with us and we joined her, Uncle Matt and Grandma Kathy around 11am. Grandpa Joe joined us soon after that after working a half day. Aunt Janae did awesome coping with her contractions but her body simply didn't respond to the induction and the next morning at 9:52am Makenna Ruth was born via c-section. Griffin did great and we were able to stay at the hospital the whole time. I even got to join Uncle Matt and Aunt Janae in the operating room. What an amazing experience. I feel truly honored to have been included in that amazing moment. I also have a whole new respect for women who have to go through a c-section. They should all be called survivors!
Just arrived...Aunt Janae is still smiling in between contractions!
Room 2-141
Walking the halls...
pausing...
Getting stronger...
and stronger...
Griffin distracting Aunt Janae with kisses!
Still able to smile in between!
Still eating and laughing...active labor is just around the corner...
Griffin taking a play break in the kid friendly waiting room upstairs.
Grandpa Joe stretching his back....it was a LONG day!
The baby in the mirror...his favorite friend!
Nap time.
Post nap!
Still able to play games on her phone!
NOW things are getting serious...
Bed time!
He's OUT!
ALL that for nothing. Janae labored for about 24 hours without advancing a single centimeter! The most popular man in labor and delivery, the anesthesiologist, finally arrived! Poor Janae had to wait 2 hours after deciding she was ready for some pain relief because it was so busy that night!
And here she is! Miss Makenna Ruth DeLong meeting Grandpa Joe for the first time!
And here she is in Grandma Kathy's arms!
