Mobile baby- 16 weeks

Griffin rolled from his back to front for the first time on Monday! (February 21, 2011) He's been working on it for awhile and just suddenly he does it like its the easiest thing around. Now it's almost impossible to keep him on his back. This week was lots of fun. Daddy had a 4 day weekend (President's Day) and then it snowed Tuesday night and school was cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday. Mommy and Daddy both worked on Friday, so Pax and Griffin spent Friday morning with Jackie and her kids, Trevor, Cara and Allison. On Saturday Griffin and Mommy went to South Center with Grandma Kathy to look at a double BOB jogging stroller we found on craigslist but it wasn't in very good shape so we didn't buy it. We spent the rest of the day shopping in Alderwood at Babies R Us and REI...Mom thinks the brand new BOB model is pretty spiffy!
Falling asleep on his playmat...holding onto the giraffe! (2/20/11)
Asleep in his swing...holding onto a teddy bear.
He just has to have his hands moving or holding onto something!
Out for an early Sunday morning walk...it was COLD, so cold Bailey didn't want to walk!
(That's actually Pax in the stroller, I was wearing Griffin in the Moby wrap.)

Naked time after bath time!

16 weeks old. Saturday, February 26, 2011. Spent the day with Grandma Kathy.

15 weeks

Happy Valentine's Day! We had heart shaped pizza for dinner:)This week has been pretty uneventful...thankfully! Ryan had a long weekend (President's Day) so on Friday and Saturday he was home with us, working on his National Boards. On Friday we hung out with him but on Saturday Griffin and I headed over to Grandpa and Grandma Imholt's house so we would be out of the way. Daddy is sure working hard on these papers- we're hoping he passes with flying colors!
Ryan's teaching partner Amy and her husband Matt welcomed their daughter Jana Joy on Tuesday, February 15 early in the morning. Griffin can't wait to meet her...his future wife:) The Staudenraus family is down in Seattle at children's hospital while Jana recovers from surgery. She was born with Spinal Bifida...hopefully everyone will be home soon!

All bundled up for a walk around the neighborhood!
Bath time!

14 weeks, 911 twice

Saturday, February 12, 2011- 14 weeks

This week has been so eventful...mostly because I (Sarah) seem to have lost all brain function:)!
On Monday we had our very first Mommy Monday meeting at AC3 (our church, http://www.ac3.org/) and had lots of fun. Hopefully MMs continue to grow and we make lots of new friends.
On Tuesday, I locked the boys in the truck at MOPS. I knew it the second I shut my door too. I ended up calling 911 as the fastest way to get to them. I have a spare set of keys at home and a AAA membership, but I just wanted to get to my sad baby as fast as possible. Luckily the slim jim worked great and the Arlington Police officer was super nice. The last thing I needed was a lecture! Pax laughed the whole time and I think he thought it was funny. I'm so glad it happened at MOPS where I had lots of other mommies to help me feel normal...and to help me as I waited for the officer to show up.
On Thursday I went walking on the Centenniel Trail with some friends and their kiddos (Jenny and Reagan, Shannon and Carson). When we got back to our cars, Jenny's window had been broken and her purse stolen...in broad daylight! So frustrating...so we called 911 and stuck with her while she filed a report. This was the first time anything like this had happened to her:( While we were talking with the Sherriff that showed up, Reagan (Jenny's daughter) started fussing so I took her out of her stroller and held her for a little bit- then Griffin started fussing so I put Reagan back into her stroller but didn't buckle her up...you can see where this is going, right? Yep. She is 8 months old and crawling and managed to fall out:( Man I felt (and still do) feel terrible. I was so glad she didn't get hurt- just scared. I'm so used to babies that can't move (Griffin)...or know not to (Pax). I told Reagan she could push Griffin over some day to make it even.
Friday I hit the trail again, this time with Janae and Suzanne (and Porter). Between the 3 of us we had 3 strollers and 4 dogs. It was fun and COLD! It's supposed to be gray and rainy for the next TWO WEEKS! Winters here in the PNW can be so dreary!
Saturday, Grandpa and Grandma Imholt came and picked up Griffin and took him for a couple hours so mommy could work on taxes while daddy was up in Mt. Vernon meeting with other teachers. It was so different to have the house to myself and not be worried about getting everything done before Griffin got grumpy, woke up or was hungry again. They picked up Great Grandma Imholt and brought Griffin home around 2pm and we all got to eat dinner together and enjoy some family time.
As far as growth and development go...we're getting close to rolling from back to front. Griffin is working hard at it! We roll from front to back like a champ. He is really starting to interact with his environment and reaches for toys now...and gets them into his mouth. In fact, he tries to put pretty much everything into his mouth now. On Wednesday night, he slept SEVEN straight hours! Mom especially loved this little treat- hopefully we're getting closer and closer to doing that regularly. The best development this week though...GIGGLES! Griffin is really starting to work on his "voice". He laughs now...and every now and then scares us (and himself) with a big "GAH". Oh, we are also wearing bibs now...he is drooling that much!

3 Months

Sunday February 6- three months old! And we're into size 3 diapers! We've used disposables for the last couple days thanks to a little diaper rash. I think we're going to need to keep using them at night as Griffin starts sleeping longer. He's such a wiggle worm that once his diaper is wet and he moves around in it, he gives himself sore spots (its not really true diaper rash). We're also talking lots now. We can carry on whole conversations! And we smile while eating too- meal times are starting to take longer so we can talk and laugh. It's so much fun for mommy! Griffin is getting close to rolling from back to front, he'll roll from side to side but gets stuck. We're all done with what one book calls the "fourth trimester". I'm hoping we'll start seeing a real good sleep pattern emerge, with 4-5 hour stretches at night! Of course we'd gladly take 6-8 hours too:)!

13 weeks and growing like a weed!

This week (and last) we've been going through a major growth spurt. I don't remember what night it was but I nursed Griffin to sleep at 7pm and he woke up hungry at 7:30pm, so I nursed him back to sleep, and he was hungry again at 9:15pm! And on and on it went, all night long. The 6 month jammies I bought him the day after Christmas are fitting much better...and a couple are even getting small. We weighed him at home, fully clothed and the scale says 16.9lbs (or about 16 lbs 14 oz)! No wonder he's getting harder to carry around:) The good news- growing so much means he's sleeping lots too. Not in long chunks of time but lots and lots of cat naps, 15-30 minutes long. Unfortunately for mommy, that means she's more tired than ever!

All three of my boys napping!

On Thursday I subbed in my favorite PE class at my favorite school (Cedarcrest). Grandpa Joe and Grandma Kathy took the day off work to babysit. I was most nervous that Griffin would miss me and that I didn't leave enough milk for him. But one of the things I love about Cedarcrest and subbing with the PE crew is that my parents only live about 3 miles away and I had permission for them to bring him to me if needed. BUT it wasn't needed. Griffin did great and I packed just enough milk. Substitute teaching is definitely easier than staying home with Pax and Griffin... SAHMs (Stay-at-home-moms) definitely earn their keep:)!! And this mommy was so tired, she was in bed at 7pm that night!

Playing at Grandpa and Grandma's!

Griffin's "new" shoes. There is a wonderful consignment store (Mimi's) here in Marysville and she had a sale on shoes and clothes this week! The cute lobster shoes are size 4, so we have to wait awhile until we can wear them...but the car ones fit now!

Griffin's favorite car toy...he's actually started grabbing and putting it in his mouth:)
Saturday February 5- 13 weeks!
Griffin went to the blood bank with me today! He did great. He slept until I was almost finished and the nice nurses and volunteers helped keep him happy until my pint was full:) Hopefully he'll grow up to donate too. If you'd like to donate visit the Puget Sound Blood Center's website and schedule an appointment! http://www.psbc.org/programs/index.htm

12 weeks

This week was relatively uneventful. Griffin and Mommy helped in the church nursery for the first time...well, it was Griffin's first time and Mommy's first time since October! Griffin really liked the bouncy horse, which made me think he might be ready for his exersaucer. And he LOVES it. He's still little enough that he can only handle about 5 minutes before he gets tired. But he loves looking at all the toys and even "playing" with them. He's also started looking at and grabbing other things, like the toys hanging from his carseat. It's so neat to seem him suddenly start interacting with his environment.
Here we all are! Beka and Emerson, Shannon and Carson, Me and Griffin, Jamie and Bella. You've seen the bellys grow and the babies show up one by one. It's so fun to finally all be holding our babies. Taking the group shot made me think about other comparison shots I could take. Griffin and I struck this same pose when he was just 4 days old...my how he's grown!

Saturday January, 30- 12 weeks old. Sleeping peacefully in his crib...for a couple hours. We're getting there but he still ends up in bed with us for most of the night. It's just SO much easier when he feeds every 2-3 hours still! (Plus, I love the extra snuggles!)

This morning it was beautiful out and we went walking with Daddy and Bailey. This was the first time I sat in my BOB stroller like a big kid!
