Every June the Woodland Park Zoo has an 'educator appreciation day' and this was our second year attending. Adults get in free...Griff is still in the 3 & under free category too, so we 'splurged' and spent $5 on parking and lunch out at Dick's. What a great day for less than $30!
We started the day off 'lazy', no electronic alarm clock (G still had us up well before 7am, I don't usually look at the clock though- it's just depressing on a Saturday). This is Griff enjoying a Sesame Street while I packed snacks.
Even the adults like Sesame.
Locked and loaded...
just a quick stop for the 'rents! Too bad they missed the 'soy' part of my chai:(
He LOVES the foam:)
Almost there!!
He almost fell asleep on the way there. If the drive had been just a few minutes longer..
Of COURSE we brought the leash! Best invention ever!
Where'd Dada go? (Paying for parking)
BUS! BUS!
Waiting in line...
getting antsy and angry!
Exploring!
Ryan and his mini-me!
My little botanist- he was just as intrigued with the plants as he was with the animals.
Elk
There were 5 or 6 wolves out and running around- they looked like they were trying to get to the snacks small children.
Emu
Tokens for the carousel
Waiting our turn
Look! No hands!
Griffin wasn't too sure about the moving horse actually. He held on pretty tight!
PENGUINS!
Another favorite: the fountain near the penguins.
Snack time in the boat!
Mean looking toad in the Day Exhibit
Tree kangaroo- I just read about these with a class I covered!
Getting close to nap time...in other words- getting GRUMPY!
Griffin got to meet Findley as well as Gracie, Brenna, and Keira U.- daughters of one of my co-workers- another two-teacher family taking advantage of a free/cheaper trip to the zoo.
Aaaannd- he's out! Slept about an hour in the Ergo...
Woke up literally as we were walking out of the gate!
Bye-bye zoo!
Still waking up- on our way to Dick's!
2 Deluxe, 1 cheese, 4 fries, and a strawberry shake later...we were ready to head home.
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned how much Griffin likes french fries...they are magical at getting him to eat and calm down. The only thing better is if they come with a bottle of ketchup!
MMMmmmmmm!!!!
